The Enologist/ Winemaker position is responsible for preparing wines and juice for bottling, working with the lab technician to coordinate analyses, coordinating work orders with the Cellar technician, directing the bottling crew, helping with sales forecasting, and ensuring quality wine and juice production and record keeping for 702 reporting.

Manage the Production staff. This involves delegating daily tasks, having regular staff meetings, training, conducting employee reviews, and properly documenting and
being the lead in giving corrective action plans. Will be the lead when interviewing potential employees, and along with HR will decide hirings and terminations.
Conduct day to day winemaking operations
Providing sensory analysis in the cellar to ensure wine quality
Working with the winemaking team to conduct cellar operations and ensuring wine quality
Ensure SOPs and GMPs are being adhered to
Completing work orders for all production related tasks from harvest to bottling
Ensuring records kept are TTB compliant
Training and managing Production Crews including Cellar, Lab, and Bottling Crews.
Responsible for managing and reporting all lab work.
Ensuring wine blend profiles.
Ensuring bottling requirements are met on time.
Participating in wine tasting at all stages throughout the winemaking process and conducting evaluations.
Assist with monthly inventory and documentation for the 702 Cellar Report
Managing the lab and Lab Tech to ensure there is adequate training, appropriate tests are conducted, and reporting is accurate on lab experiments
Working as a team to ensure that wine blend profiles are created.
Participating in wine tasting at all stages throughout the winemaking process and conducting evaluations and making adjustments as needed
Will be in charge of sampling grapes from vineyards to determine harvest dates
Testing fruit from other vineyards to determine quality and usability
Participate in grape receiving, crushing, pressing, and wine production operations during harvest
Adhering to state and federal regulations
Conduct educational tastings and tours of the facility, when needed.
Contributing to the continuous improvement of the winemaking process and procedures.
Produce New Release Sheets to be used in Outside and Retail sales.
- BS in Enology or related field
- Minimum 5 years of winemaking experience.
- Fundamental knowledge and education in viticulture and viticulture practices.
- Supervisory/managerial skills, ability to work well within a team environment and organized.
- Able to lift 50 pounds, sit or stand for extended periods, work in cold or hot temperatures.
- Computer proficiency in Excel, Word, and winemaking software.
