The vineyards thrive on a two-mile stretch of bank on the South Umpqua River. In 2009, an additional 100 acres were planted approximately nine miles North of the main vineyard. Much of this new vineyard is planted with Pinot Noir grapes, the first harvest of which was conducted in 2011.

Melrose Vineyards has built a reputation for providing high-quality fruit for numerous prestigious Oregon wineries throughout the state. Melrose fruit is sold through long-term contracts that have evolved into long-term relationships within the Oregon grape industry.
The vineyards are planted on resistant rootstock with full irrigation and water rights on primarily Class 1 soil. The vineyard was originally plant on Scott Henry Trellis system at a 11 x 7 spacing. All but 14 acres of Pinot Gris has been retrained to VSP Trellising system.
