Ultra-premium grapes for serious, artisan winemakers! A vineyard planted in 2004 as an experiment to determine if a world class wine can be produced in Lodi? These are NOT your typical grapes from California (especially Lodi). This is a small 3 acre naturally farmed (no use of any chemical), high density vineyard, with many special features:
• High density – 1,800 vine per acre
• High stressed vines – deficit irrigation (less than 12 hours of irrigation per year)
• Low yields – less than 3 tons/acre, the vineyard is exclusively farmed for quality. Not quantity
• Ultra intense fruit – very small clusters and tiny berry size. Maximizing color depth of flavors
• $100 per bottle wine – the wine from this vineyard is built for long term aging. The first vintage, 2008, still has many years of aging left

The varietal blend is unique, and except for Tannat, was inspired by my years of involvement in Bordeaux. The varieties include: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petite Verdot and Tannat.

In 2004, with 20 years in the global wine industry I had a dream and an idea! As a tribute to my great grandfather from Italy (who made wine in his Sacramento basement in the early 1900’s), and my extensive time in the greatest vineyards of France and Italy, I wanted to determine if a “World Class” wine (not a typical fruit forward California) could be produced in Lodi? Applying the old adage that great wine is made in the vineyard, a meticulous, quality-first, production plan was established. After producing the 2008 and 2009 vintages, which are still drinking at a very high level, with many years of aging left. Vintages from 2010 forward were sold to a large Chinese real estate developer, who is a passionate wine collector of some of the greatest wine of the world.

With changes in the wine industry (and China), there were grapes from 2024, and also this year available. We will crush a few tons this year, but I wanted to offer these grapes to small artisan winemakers who appreciate an ultra-premium grape.

I am offering the grapes at $0.60/pound, you pick. These are the current brix as Sept. 12, 2025:
• Petite Verdot – 21
• Cabernet Sauvignon – 23
• Tannat – 22
• Malbec – 21.5
• Cabernet Franc – 23.6
