As Modern Cooperage expands nationally and internationally, we are seeking a proven Account Executive to drive growth in key wine and spirits markets. This is a high-impact role for a sales professional who thrives on relationship-building, strategic account development, and closing meaningful business with top producers.

The Role
The Account Executive – Barrel Sales is responsible for developing new business, managing key accounts, and driving revenue growth across strategic territories. You will leverage your industry expertise and network to deepen Modern Cooperage’s presence within the California wine region and beyond.

This is a hybrid role, based in or frequently traveling to the Napa/Sonoma/Central Coast region, with opportunities to shape go-to-market strategy and contribute directly to Modern Cooperage’s growth trajectory.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a territory sales strategy to meet and exceed revenue goals.

Identify and close new business opportunities with wineries, distilleries, and cooperage buyers.

Build and maintain long-term relationships with decision-makers — winemakers, cellar masters, distillers, and purchasing leads.

Manage a portfolio of existing accounts, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and retention with a bulk of focus on developing new business.

Leverage deep knowledge of barrel construction, oak types, toast levels, and performance to consultatively sell solutions.

Represent Modern Cooperage at trade shows, tastings, and industry events, building brand visibility and lead pipelines.

Collaborate with internal production and logistics teams to ensure seamless client experiences from sale through delivery.

Contribute to market insights, competitive intelligence, and product feedback to support strategy refinement.

What You Bring
Minimum 3 years of barrel sales experience in the wine and/or spirits industries.

A strong network of contacts in the California wine industry (Napa, Sonoma, Central Coast) and spirits industry is highly desirable.

Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding sales quotas.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

Consultative selling approach with strong technical understanding of barrels, oak, toast levels, and their impact on flavor development.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple accounts effectively.

Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and structured sales reporting.

High energy, entrepreneurial mindset, and commitment to driving market expansion.
