Job Description/Qualifications

Position Summary The cellar master is responsible for day to day management and operation of all cellar functions to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency and the highest quality of all wines produced. The cellar master will also be expected to conduct cellar activities as necessary, due to being short staffed, or if the production schedule is at risk. Responsibilities • Responsible for the management of all stainless steel vessels, wood barrel and crush functions. • Propose, develop and implement standardized procedures for cellar operations, including but not limited to, barrel, stainless cellar, winery sanitation, and inventory management. • Recommends and implements ongoing process improvements that use best practices in winemaking to maximize productivity and enhance winery standards. • Assures cellar operations meet production goals. In collaboration with winemaking, develops short and long-term work plans to ensure efficient utilization of staff. • Makes recommendations and collaborates with the winemaking team in planning and scheduling of cellar activities for optimum efficiency and quality. • Supervises staff, helping with determination priorities for daily, weekly and monthly work. • Assists with the creation of cellar objectives and performance management. • Ensures that cellar operations meet winery sanitation standards and equipment is fully functional. •

Job Description/Qualifications

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • To aid in ensuring cellar compliance with the company's quality and safety standards. • Actively contribute to all aspects of general winemaking duties from grapes to bottle. • Must have a clear understanding of OSEHA standards and policies. • Carry out all necessary steps in stabilization, clarification, and fining as necessary. • Responsible for promoting good cellar hygiene and cleaning before and after winemaking operations. • Generate cellar operation notes as agreed to by the winemaking team. • May be responsible for various equipment maintenance to carry out efficient cellar operations. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: • Minimum requirement of Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in enology. • Winemaking experience is a must. • Knowledge of wine required. • Strong laboratory skills required.
