Ultra-premium grapes for serious, artisan winemakers! A vineyard planted in 2004 as an experiment to determine if a world class wine can be produced in Lodi? These are NOT your typical grapes from California (especially Lodi). This is a small 3 acre naturally farmed (no use of any chemical), high density vineyard, with many special features: • High density – 1,800 vine per acre • High stressed vines – deficit irrigation (less than 12 hours of irrigation per year) • Low yields – less than 3 tons/acre, the vineyard is exclusively farmed for quality. Not quantity • Ultra intense fruit – very small clusters and tiny berry size. Maximizing color depth of flavors • $100 per bottle wine – the wine from this vineyard is built for long term aging. The first vintage, 2008, still has many years of aging left The varietal blend is unique, and except for Tannat, was inspired by my years of involvement in Bordeaux.
